Hi Guys! :)

I'm new to TLCs , but in the process of swapping the engine and entire drivetrain in my Landrover SWB 88". Already started the project with a 3B engine and diffs from a BJ40.

I don't know much about LC transmission options available (gearbox types, TC types) in various cruisers.

Need some info (or links) on cruiser trannies...... PLZ!!

Can't help with the tranny info, just wonder on how much fun you will miss out on if you get rid of the LR gear, no carrying spare axles and diff oil and changing the broken axles on the side of the track, no blown 1st gear ratios and starting off every time in second low and double clutching into second high, you surely will miss a lot of fun by putting LC gear in!

You will find a lot here. http://tlc.off-road.com/tlc/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=264208

So what year did the stuff you have come out of?

that will be a neat little Rover. Looking forward to the build up and seeing some pictures on here of it. Please post.

Is the transmission you have a 4 or 5 spd? The 5 speed is the H55f, might be the one you want.

Thanks a lot for the info !! :)

Well there is no single donor vehicle ... the front and rear diffs are from a bj40, 3B engine (rotary pump time), Bj60 power stearing box and tie rod assembly at the moment a 4 speed gearbox (don't know from what!!) and a split type transfer case..... !!!

A defender face was fabricated from fiber to replace the older series 2 face

pics soon....

I'm pretty sure you have a H42 tranny with a BF1A t-case .. their are 2 opption for low geanrs on this t-case ...

1.96 or 2.28

Ahh if you have a rotory pump .. it is a 13B ..?

Some of the 3bII on here have the rotary pumps....Island Moose has one in his 70 series.

how you can see in the engine the diference between 13B and 3BII ( valvle cover ? )

Here's how my 3bII engine looks like from above, could somebody post pics of a 13b to compare?

My buddy engine have a old style valve cover ( like my 2H ) thought it's a 13B curios the intake throtle it's drivers side oriented ( not top oriented as I have in my 2H ) I'm not sure if is the same intake as you show in your 3BII

The intake on the drivers side is probably because this engine came originally in a Dyna cab over... I have seen 3bs with top oriented intakes, depending on the application.
