do they still make real mazdas? like ones that aren't just rebadged rangers? That's what all of ours turned to in 1993/1994 I believe... So the real mazdas are getting harder and harder to find in good shape... expeicially with all the rust issues that are typical of canadian owned and operated vehicles.... I personally feel that the b2600's are on par with a toyota truck.... stuff isn't quite as over built, but it stands up really well.

Only in North America are Mazda B-series Rebadged Fords, the rest of the world has Fords that are rebadged from Mazdas. I guess you guys really are spoiled, but the Navara is just a diesel powered Frontier. Although, we do have, um, uh, what do we have here that's better than the rest of the world's competition?

so buy a pre 94 from Japan and quit your whinning... Dad has my old 93 B2200 and it has just turned 350,000, original clutch, original brakes, only thing replaced was the tires and the tail pipe (twice)... and of course basic tune up parts...

Am I whining? oops sorry....

Wow I've herd some crazy things about the Mazda B's but that's insane.... My LC supposedly had the orginal brakes till I replaced at 290000km... I thought that was unbelievable....

Eric,
you have never seen my dad drive...
stereotype old farmer...
i wouldn't be surprised to see it turn 500,000km (if he would change the oil more often)

hahaha

I remember being at a friends farm and riding his, CT70 honda minitrail... after the ride I pulled the dipstick and it had chunks in it and looked muddy.... I couldn't believe the thing still ran.... he said he had never changed the oil... (Changing oil was overrated) HA

I found a 60 with 6 cyl diesel and auto transmissiom.
What do you guys think of that as family car which will be mainly driven by the wife.
What sorta MPG shoud I expect, any reason not to buy one if it is in good shape.

That would be my preferred choice for a family. Lots of room, nice smooth ride. The 60 should get around 12/100.
Spend some time with a flashlight up under the rear checking for rust in the frame. Go over it very slowly.
Try and see the engine start cold.

Update about the HJ60.
I was just talking with the owner about it, before it was all emails via his girl.
Anyway he has droped the price down to near 1/2 what he was asking.
Here is a list of things that is needed for reinspection. The inspection is up by end of Nov.
1- front caliper possibly both.
2- Tail pipe either repared or changed.
3- The rad had been redone before , but it takes a bit of antifreeze now , so new rad within the year.
4- It needs frame repair done, he says nothing major, but needed.
He said other than that evrything works as it should including the AC and the drivetrain is A1. with just over 300K
He also said the body has been done ,repainted and any rust was fixed no bondo ,3 years ago. New head gasket last year , because it was replaced by mistake as the WP was the one needed replacing which was replaced.
So he was asking 5500firm now he will take 3000.
I don't know if he is welling to go lower.
He bought it 7 years ago from an older man who took to Florida every winter.
He said he bought another due to the increase in deisel prices, and wants to sell.
Thanks for the feedback, and don't be shy ,I really need your comments.

for $3000 what do you have to loose?

either you buy a unit needing work or spend big up front for one that is a turn key... choice is yours

That's a nice looking 60. Where is all the rust hiding?

:grinpimp:

Looks ok for $3k. Is that paint normal for a CDM?

Thanks guys for the replies.
I haven't seen it yet. I am making plans to go and see it tomorrow, it is about 3.5 hrs away from me.
According to the owner the frame is solid , but for inspection they wanted one spot fixed, that is my biggest concern.
I have new rotors and calipers , I could fix the brakes with.
Is the rad from an fj40 usable on that 60?
He said it was painted 3 years ago by prof and he didn't use any bondo.
He took it for inspection (which is up by the end of this month) thinking it need rotors so he bought the rotors .
They said it needs one caliper (seased) or possibly both. and the frame repair and a tail pipe.
I have 2 complete front hubs with all new bearings, seals ,rotors and calipers I can stick on it.
I also have a 4 core Rad for an fj40 like new??. I will have no problem fixing the tail pipe, but I am worrie about the frame repair.
The other thing is I have to decide fast , because if I don't get it by tomorrow ,it would have to be towed home all that distance instead of driven.
Thanks,,, Help me with your inputs.
Vic

for 3000 adding a little metal to the frame is no big deal... look at the frame if the majority of the rust is on the inside of the boxed frame, there is still alot of structure on the outside channel.... Just crawl around under it poke around at the frame.... it is common to be filled with crud (it will be good to clean it out)

I just got back and it is a done deal.
The body is in amazing condition considering where it lived. It will require frame repair and front brakes. It does run like tops and rides nicely. I couldn't finish the paper work today , so the genleman offered to bring it to me for the fuel trip.
Thanks to everyone for the advices, I have never dreamed of buying a 60, but I am starting to love them already.
Vic
