I think both platforms are awesome. But, I really don't understand this take at all. How is a fluid flush at factory recommended 120,000 miles - maybe every 60-80,000 miles if you are super aggressive - a maintenance nightmare? All it takes is ~$100 in OEM fluid, some Home Depot tubing, and an empty orange juice container to perform in your driveway??

Look at the forum. Pretty much every other day, there is a new thread about AHC issues and maintenance nightmare that is beyond just “flushing it every 60k miles.” (BTW, I thought that Owner’s Manual states every 60k miles flush??)

Here are common topics that you see/read: Ride sucks and hard as a rock. No pressure. Pump not working. Lines rusted and leaking because they are too close to each other. Stuck in LO. One corner dropping. Lexus dealer have no idea how to flush. Lexus dealer refuses to flush until something breaks. No one wants to work on it (this is kinda big deal IMO). My flush did not work. My LX is stuck in dealer because dealer can’t find what’s wrong. On and on. Oh look, just late last night, another AHC issue thread….

Almost reminds me of Land Rover forum….

The Lx and LC apparently both have different tire pressure requirements when running same size aftermarket wheels and tires (of the same size).

That’s clearly the biggest difference between the two.

Drove a same year lx and lc back to back on the same roads. The LX is definitely quieter which lends me to believe the additional sound deadening, but the LC was not loud by any means.

I think the LX has a lot to like about it. The AHC is fantastic, I prefer the interior touches and real wood. With the windows rolled up, LX seems a bit quieter from outside noise compared to the LC. I’ve had two previous 200’s and considered the new LX before purchasing my next 200 LC. Two reasons I did not buy the LX. The Nav and front fascia. I was unaware of not being able to use a full roof rack which would have been a third reason. Otherwise, I enjoyed my test drive and the fact I didn’t have to install an aftermarket suspension system and all that comes with that.

Can you fit a full aftermarket roof rack?

Can you fit a full aftermarket roof rack?

Yes, both LC and LX have the same full 4 pair set of anchor points on the roof, and are equally compatible with all aftermarket roof racks. The LX can also be fitted with the longer LC OEM 3 point side rail as I and others have done.

The above is really not correct since the Thread is comparing a 2017 LC to 2018 LX., so LC has some of these options Also i don’t get why the list includes available options for the LX as I previously mentioned. I see it was updated to include HUD as an option but the same should be done on the MLS system And duel rear entertainment.

So things have changed:

2 options:
2016 LC white 50k miles CPO
2017 LX atomic silver 50k miles non cpo

the Lx will be $6k more

Thank you everyone for all the help. We took home our family’s first ever 200 tonight.
Get some pics on here! And please explain your calculus about which one you ended up with

Congrats! Which one did you choose?

Sorry got home late last night and had to feed the kids and put them down. Couldn’t do pics. I’ll try today.

originally wanted an LC. But with people here making a strong argument for an LX, we truly considered an LX over LC.

none of the dealers wanted to budge of the list price (not even a dollar) for the LX. And I got a smoking deal for the LC. And at the end the wifey was go get what you truly want. Don’t compromise.

so we got the LC. Just need a good name for her

what was the $?

Sorry, have to laugh at the aspirational upsell of the LC getting pretty much getting all those things. The latest LXs still get a pretty clear dollop of additional goodies.

This is actually really great for the LX vs the LC. Depends how you will use it or what your priorites are for your vehicle. I'm no good at making things look pretty on line but I will try. Going to respond to your list.

LX features: A LC owner responding:
1) More sound deadening What? Can't hear you all the windows are down enjoying the fresh air. Speak up

Where did 2)-5) go? must have missed it on this factory GPS

6) Mark Levinson Reference (only other model to get the Reference system is the LS) w/surround Still have the windows down.

7) is gone. Dang LC GPS

8) AHC - AVS, lift on demand, auto and multi-step damping, anti-dive/roll/squat, leveling, etc., etc. Learn to drive and load your vehicle proper. Upgrade your suspension. Go big

9) AHC underbody armor Upgrade to 3/16" stainless front to back. Stainless protects pretty good and is slick. I might drive like a maniac from time to time and tend to break things.

10) Shorter roof rack (LC has a longer roof rack with 3 supports per side) Too small. Upgrade to full roof rack with mesh bottom and rails so you can fit more gear up top.

11)- 13) gone. head to ih8mud for a solution. Maybe someone has the north america CD to update GPS

14) Storage in rear seat armrest I got cup holders?

15) Power slide rear seats No need. They are locked in place because of the drawer system in the back

16) Second row storage on front seatbacks is a panel vs net What's wrong with net? All the garbage just falls out instead of collecting in the bottom

17) 14-way adjustable driver seat vs 10-way LC (passenger 12-way vs 8-way) Huh? The seats are comfortable. They go up and down and back and forth. even pitch up and down. 14?!

18) Power stowage for 3rd row seat See statement 15)

19) All windows down by holding remote door open button for 3+ seconds (not sure Toyota's have this?) Yes along with remote start

22) Puddle and side step lights Kinda nice? but I can upgrade

23) Door sil lighting Not needed

24) Interior ambient lighting I'm not a loungeUpgrade interior lights to the brightest blinding LEDs

25) Additional trunk side light and open tailgate lighting Plenty of light. See statement 15

26) +2hp / +2tq (requires 91 octane, LC is 87 octane) This one is ehh. Going to cost a lot more to fill up for two ponies more. Lucky to get 12 mpg on the highway as it is.

27) More luxurious interior appointments 100%. I would destroy it

28) Ventilated outboard rear seats No one in the back seat cares, No one is in the back seat except the hound and kids.

29) Four-zone climate concierge LC will melt your face in the winter and freeze you in the summer. Windows always down.

31) LED Cornering Lamp What is this?

32) 12.3-inch high-res split-screen display (LC 9") Meh. It's a truck not a movie theater. But can you hook a ham radio up with apple car play? That would be great!
33) Head-up display

34) All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (LC DRCC for 25mph and up) Just pay attention.

35) Steering wheel paddle shifter Hate them on a porsche. Never on a truck.

36) Door puddle projector lamps Not needed

37) Rear door retractable sun shades Ok that is a win. Solid

38) 2020 gets special trims: "LX570 Sport" to "LC Heritage" Both look nice but not a selling point. Trim levels are a stupid expense. I will probably break it anyway.

39) Dual screen rear entertainment The dog does not watch TV and I won't park my kids in front of a screen.

I really just want to tear the front apart and put a solid axle in. hmmm that's going to be work. Gully windows in the back? I should talk to a glazier and that guy in RU. hmmm maybe paint the break calipers. Oh wait! right! Replace timing chain, pulleys, water pump ect. Right right. Priorities. Crap. trans fluid needs to be done as well.

Great ride. Comfortable, looks great. Wow this thing tows! Even comfy on rough roads and
I never get stuck when I go out on service roads. Hey speaking of time for service. Better
call the dealer. no worries I get a free loaner.

Very similar but very different. If your a maniac and push the limits of a vehicle LC all the way or just a fan of the LC's history and lifespan and/or are going to do heavy mods. LC LC LC. If you have a family and comfort is the priority the LX570 is the way to go. The LX will take you pretty far with no mods. (no spoiler!) Reality is if your a decent driver the LX will do just fine in extreme comfort. Now if you your driving is concerned with exit angles or approach angles, you broke a rear shock off, your mother in law is terrified of "going for a drive" but your father in law is patting you on the back smiling yelling Go Go Yes! That's the LC pride. The LX owners seem to be terrified of a scratch. LC owners yeah pin stripping badge of honor.

It's a personal thing how am I going to use or abuse this. LC's mod, beat and complain. LX drive, camping, F$%k take to dealer no complaints.
