Help me out with tire sizes? (1 Viewer)

Just got my rear lift springs (Belton 3.5") installed today, I will be getting my fronts put in also. I am running a 31x10.5r15 tire now, would a 33x12.5r15 be a decent upgrade, by looking at my truck? It is a 3B non turbo, so I do not have a ton of power to push big wheels/tires. Thanks.

You should upgrade to 35" becuase it will looks perfect fit.
but It will be lil bit harder on your 3b

I would leave it as it is or go no more than a 32in tyre.I would also stay narrow to cut down on the rolling and wind resistance.

Thanks for the input, guys. I was looking at stepping up to a 16" rim with bigger tires, but that will be even more work for the motor....I do like the military look for tires (tall and narrow), but looking at other people's rigs on here, I think that the 285/75-16 is about the size I might be looking at (around a 33" tire I believe).

33 x 10.50s is a good place to be. ( 255 85R 16 if you want to go with 16" rims).

BFG and Toyo make tires in that size. My vote is for the Toyos.

There are four treads to choose from in the Open Country line up, the most common are the MTs, and there's the M55s. I think the MTs are the only ones that come in the 33 x 10.50 R15. You have more interesting choices when you got to a 16" rim, but that adds quite a bit to the cost.

I will be buying either some M55s or the MTs in 255 85 R16 soon, but I have many customers who are using these two tire types to very good effect. They are very heavy duty - many reviews available as well.

My BJ70 came with 33x12.50 Toyo Open Country MT's on 10" wheels. I'm pretty sure they measure large (compared to BFG/Goodyear MTs). I'd like to say they're louder than BFG Mud Terrains, but I kinda have holes in my quarter panels, and rear interior panels from the missing cubby's (shameless plug - if anyone has any let me know!) They seem to follow ruts in the road like crazy, however this could be due to the short wheelbase (?). They definitely look a lot tougher than the 33x10.50 KO's on our family vehicle.

With 33x12.50's, plan on regearing (unless you don't have wind or hills where you live, or don't drive on the highway). I'm thinking about getting 4.11 thirds from FJ62/80(rear).

If all else fails, go by looks! 16" rims would be nice. Narrow is nice for driveability. Not sure about stability though.

Got these already on my computer, I'll pull the truck into the shop & take some more if you want, they're real nice on the highway, I haven't done any real off roading with them yet, but I've read decent things so I took the chance

Thanks, I'll just add that I've replaced the body mounts with polyurethane bushings, and added a 1 inch lift, so it sits a touch higher than stock. The PO replaced the leafs years ago with something a local spring shop made for him, so no serious suspension work was done to achieve the clearance.

33X9.5 on 15 rims are perfect for a NA 3B.
16" rims are a recent (last 5 years mostly) fad although it does allow for more selection of heavier tires.

the other ones i was going to suggest was the super swamper 34X9.5 i stuck a set on a LJ71 and what a nice fit. the 2LT moved them down the road with little effort.

so next on your list of mods is a turbo?

Nah, run that combo before, it's not that bad with the tires being narrow.

33x12.50s are slow, the 10.50s not so much.
