Maybe this is a tired topic, but this might be a new twist. Originally when I started mapping out my build, I was planning on running 315/75/16s on 80 series wheels under an SOA. So I found a set of 80 series wheels here on Mud and had them shipped in. My plan was to regear to 4.56s.

Now I'm thinking that if i'm going to be dropping the coin to SOA my rig, and regear, why wouldn't I consider running 37's to start with?

But now I've got these 16" rims, and they've painted me into a corner...there are very few selections for 37" tires for a 16" rim.

Basically the choices I'm considering are:

Irok Radials at 37/12.50/16

TrXus Mud Terrain Radial at 37/12.50/16

ProComp Xtreme AT Radial at 325/80/16

Of the three the only tire I've had any experience with is the Iroks. They're amazing in the dirt, but are the radials road worthy? When I'm honest the rig will be 95% on the road as a daily driver, and will most likely be driven to the trails.

Anyone have any experience with the others? The ProComp's have a 40K mile tread life warranty...

Other tire suggestions?

Or just stick to the 315's?

Christo had some bad ass Pro Comps on his 80 series pickup. They were not x-Terrains because I hate those tires, but they were the A/T version. Very cool tires. Maybe search under Slee Off Road or PM Christo.

I think those are the third choice I've listed up there. I'm leaning that direction if I go 37s.

One you should think about: Toyo Open Country M/T

I checked the Toyo website, and they have a 35" (315/75) and a 38" (385/70) for a 16" wheel. No 37" option.

FWIW, i ran the 37x12.5x16 Irok radials and they were aweful. The bias plys were great, but the radials developed cracks at the back of each lug in less than a year. I had three flats on three different tires because of those cracks and swore I would never run them again. They also wear way too fast (15K) and when I threw them away they only had 15% tread left.

I went with the Toyos and bought new wheels 37x13.5x17 and loved them.

I know a few people that run the irocks and they have really liked them.
