i spun the rear main baring in my inline six. so i sent it out to get line bored going through napa. the machine shop calls me and says that each journal on the block is a different size so they will have to bore each one individully also tripleing the orignal price the quoted me. it doesnt make sence to me and to everyone else ive asked. so, have any of you line bored your orignal engine and had this problem or even heard of it?

The bearings are different sizes and it makes sense that it would cost more because they have to set up the boring bar for each journal size. I'm not sure it should be 3x more expensive, so I would call around if you have more machine shops in the area. People are hungry for work right now. Maybe it would be cheaper to just bore the spun journal and get two set of bearings.
