Help! Importing from Canada (1 Viewer)

I have paid a large deposit and fully intend to buy a 1988 BJ74 that is now in Calgary, Alberta Canada.

I would like to have it trucked here to Virginia USA using uShip; hoping to get a good deal that way.

I have contacted one Customs Broker who seems to know nothing of cars, EPA, DOT, etc, and another who cannot fully understand that I will not be driving the car across the border myself.

Can anyone summarize this procedure for me, including necessary documents?
Anyone have specific companies to recommend, either brokers or truckers?

I know a lot of people like to do it themselves. There is some info here on mud and I'm sure others will chime in. If you want a broker to handle it end to end, I can recommend using John S James Co www.johnsjames.com as a good, reliable and fair company to deal with. They can handle the exact scenario you've outlined.
