Does anybody know if anybody may have manufactured this steering setup? Looks to be homemade. Searched many threads and pics on google but couldn’t find a match. The bracket on the middle of the shaft connects to the SBC engine mount. The stock steering rod is connected via key and allen bolts...possibly an old Downey setup? The threaded end to the steering shaft is wollowed...flat spotted from little flex in metal. The clamp was welded too close to the end of the shaft. One u-joint is missing all the needles under two of the caps. Another u-joint is loose. Looking to source the parts needed to fix this setup, or get a new shaft setup. It’s not a straight shot from the steering box to the steering wheel, SBC headers are in the way.

Thank you,
Chuck

Home made all the way, using PTO universal joints. No slip yoke feature, so probably tore up the back side of the plastic steering wheel since gear box travels independent of the steering wheel about 3/8" as the frame flexes (we tested this).

Thanks for the reply and all the info you’ve provided over the years. It has a two piece middle section with nylon bushings...is this what you are referring to in as a slip yolk?

Would the style set up benefit from having a slip section next to the steering box as well as the middle section?

I’ll check the back of the steering wheel.
