Cast iron bellhousing, I suspect possibly for a 3B. Starter location is drivers side

I’m pointing to 1st gear, 41 gear teeth

I bought this on CL and I know nothing about it. I only suspect it was possibly mated to a 3B based on the cast bellhousing, the starter being positioned on the driver side and the long 21 spline input shaft.

I believe the transfer case is a standard "4 speed" so nothing too special there.

I first thought that the transmission was possibly an H41 but I'm completely not sure. Counting the input shaft rotations to output shaft rotations it appears to be about 3.5:1 (making it an H42) so I'm lost at this point.

Please lend your expertise so I know what I'm dealing with here, Thanks!

B/2B bellhousing and 4-speed from a BJ40 most likely. The fact it’s a one piece case means it’s probably not from a 3B.
Ok, making sense so far.....so the bellhousing would bolt to any "B" family engine? What's odd is I "think" the transmission is an H42, at least I'm leaning that way. Didn't all BJ40's receive H41's?

I compared the 1st gear in this transmission to the 1st gear of a 74' H42 that came out of a domestic FJ40 and the gear appears to be exactly the same, both have 41 teeth.

Anyone know the teeth count on the input gear with the one piece transfer case. Believe the early split transfer case it's 26 for the H41 and 24 for the H42.

That’s not first gear, straight cut gear is reverse, front gear( big) is your first gear.
OK, then the helical gear has 39 teeth. Definitely an H42

I'll go look at one this one is in a bit

Both of the input gears I have are 24 tooth, hope this helps
