The identification numbers should be stamped right on the top unless someone removed them. Really all you need to know is if the box is a 3 or 4 turn, the number of mounting bolts, input shaft size, and whether it is flare or o-ring hose.

John is right. All you really need to know is:
A. 1980-older has 5/8 and 11/16 SAE threads and uses hoses with flare fittings.
B. 1981-newer uses 16mm and 18mm metric threads and uses hoses with an O-ring fitting.
C. 3 bolt or 4 bolt is not quite as important when identifing the box, nor is number of turns, but input shaft diameter and spline count are important.
If you call AGR they can give you a simple fix/repair for a leaking front end cap, if that is your problem???
