Hi All, new to the forum, and not yet knowledgeable on JDM models (or Toyota in general for that matter). My dad is in Uganda and has bought a Japan spec cruiser there. I am trying to get him a repair manual, but am unable to make sense of the model and engine numbers. They do not seem to correspond to U.S. versions at all. Here is what he has told me about the vehicle:
Prado Land Cruiser, 1993, 3.0 turbo diesel, no intercooler, model Y-KZJ71W, engine IKZ-0008077.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The truck is a LJ71, likely equipped with a 1KZ-TE engine. It's a light-duty SWB cruiser, with the 8" diffs instead of the 9.5" of the heavier trucks. This truck was never sold in North America. The 1993 has the same chassis/body as the 1990 which is a fairly common import to Canada. There is a place online to download the chassis manual for the 70 series, as well as the engine manual (I think), but they're all in French. If your Dad can deal with French, let me know and I'll post up a link.

actually it is a *J71 with a KZ engine hence it is a KZJ71, not a LJ71...
i know, splitting hairs...
:^P <couldn't resist>

Thanks,

I would appreciate the link. Neither of us read French but right now he has a bad front wheel bearing I think and will need to disassemble the hub...a picture may be worth a thousand words. Would this manual on eBay do him any good? Item #260032669999 It says it covers the 70 series (Gee I'm picking up the lingo already) but doesn't say anything about the KZ engine.
Thanks again,
PK

the basic drivertrain is the same so as long as it covers the light duty *J7* series you should be find...
