It was a very...interesting drive home today with no clutch hydraulic pressure whatsoever. The slave cylinder is toast, it was leaking a bit yesterday and now it is not doing it's job.

I tried ordering a rebuild kit and/or a new cylinder from my local Toyota dealer (with part numbers in hand). They said no dice. I also tried a Toyota lift truck service shop and they have yet to get back to me.

This is my daily driver and I'm really stuck. Anyone have a spare slave cylinder? Or anyone know of a source?
Slave cylinder: 31470-60160, 60161, 60190
Rebuild kit: 04313-60081

Or anyone know of a similar Toyota slave cylinder that would work on my HDJ81? I'm desperate here.:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

Upgrade to an auto, problem solved!:hillbilly:

They are very simple and tend to be relatively generic inside. Open it and measure the bore, the cup/seal from a '40, '60, mini, etc may fit?

Don't you mean DOWNGRADE to an auto? I've never owned an auto in my life and I hope I never will. Sorry but I don't know how to drive an auto :flipoff2:

Called my dealer, 31470-60161 shows in stock in Toronto.
Unfortunately can't order as it is a Forklift part...
So get in contact with a Toyota industrial supplier.. Hino maybe
and order it up.

That's basically what I found here in Winnipeg. I contacted a local Toyota lift truck place and inquired about the parts (they kept telling me they don't service Landcruisers). I've given them the part numbers twice and am still waiting for them to get back to me.

4WheelAuto says they have the parts in stock so I will send my business their way unless the local lift truck place comes through. I need the parts by tomorrow at the latest so I can work on it this weekend. The wife is annoyed that I'm using her car. But she works 5 minutes from home and I work 30 minutes from home.

Sheldon, thanks so much for inquiring for me - you're almost up to a full case of ale owing to you ;)

Almost? That's it?

Problem solved

I had a slave cylinder overnighted from 4WheelAuto in Edmonton (Thanks Dan!!) and installed it in about 30 minutes. Clutch is now working as usual.

Upon tear down of the old part, the piston was badly worn on one side. Once the seals let go, there was nothing stopping the fluid from being forced past the piston and out on the pavement. I also cleaned out all the old blackish fluid and replaced with new synthetic brake fluid.

I'm going to go ahead and try to find a replacement master cylinder as I expect mine will not last too long. In retrospect, I should have taken it apart for inspection when I was doing the slave cylinder.

I highly recommend 4WheelAuto for JDM parts and prompt shipping. It was unfortunate that they did not have a master cylinder in stock when I ordered the slave. But at least they got me back on the road.

Thanks for everyone else's help.
