Hey Guys.. buying my lift tomorrow (I hope) or else slee is closed for a week. I have the factory winch on the front (Japan) and have the tire carrier on the back too. I also have a roof rack, and light rack on the rig. I am also picking up a set of 285/75/16's, and will have a 33" tire on the back for the spare too. I am pretty sure I am going to go with the heavy' s on the front, but I am not sure which springs I should put on the rear. I am planning on doing a some towing (pop-up tent), and may have a friend build me some bumpers for the front and back.

let me know what springs I should get for the rear!! thanks,

What does Christo suggest? I would defer to what he thinks is best for you because he has been there, done that, and knows what works and what doesn't.

For me, I went OME heavy all the way around because of my long term plan, having no desire to play the coil spring swap game (even as easy as it is reported to be), and because that is what Slee (Christo) suggested. I must say IMO he was spot on :D

Long term goal (some already done) for me was a Slee rear bumper with tire carrier, sliders, ARB front bumper with XD9000 winch, dual batteries, 285s, and occassionally towing a popup camper. I don't (at this time) plan to install drawers as I use my 3rd row seats a fair amount and I don't plan any big roof rack. I do plan to carry a lot of camping equipment at times and occassionally use a RTT on a Thule rack system (or similar).

Here are some impressions on the ride/handling quality and stance during my progression:
  • With the stock suspension and the rear bumper/tire carrier installed the rear sagged BAD
  • Without the ARB and winch up front and the OME heavy suspension installed the front end was a tad squirrely.
  • With the ARB and winch installed the handling seems good
  • With no additional weight in the rear aside from the tire carrier I have a slight stink bug stance. When loaded with stuff or towing the popup I suspect it will be just about perfect
  • Ride IMO is firmer than stock but not unacceptable - it is what it is
  • Keep in mind that the OME 2.5" lift may (and probably will) gain you more than 2.5" as mine did. Part of that is due to old tired out OEM coils and part is due to if you don't add the mods that are expected that weigh down the springs. I imaging if you went with OME 2.5" lift with heavy coils and didn't add any mods you may get 4" of lift or more, but the ride and handling will suffer
Good luck with whatever you choose to go with
