It was working, although slipping, then I swapped out the ATF and filter and it won't move forward. It will go in reverse, but it seems to want to go forward but it feels like something is holding it back. Vacuum leak? It's got 200K and original. 4x4 stuck on? Don't have a resource, but myself, to rebuild the Trans. Thanks much!

If it was slipping, the clutch packs could be on they're last legs. 200k [miles?] is a lot especially if no extra cooler.
Check the atf level is about all I can suggest. Should be about the cool mark on the dipstick idleing in park when cold.

The a440f is all mechanical. No electronics, no vacuum modulators , no adjustable internals like bands. The only adjustment is the kickdown cable. New atf added to a slipping trans can make them worse in some cases.
There is something to try. Lucas LUC10009 supposedly stops slipping.

Hi, All my fj62 s needed transmission replacement at about that mileage or slightly above. Run the check list in the transmission manual it’s very good. Mike
