Anyone using heet in their gas tank this winter? Any true benefits?

I'm originally from Fairbanks, Alaska and the only reason we used it there was if there is any water in your fuel it can ice up and cause a no start. Heet melts it out and 'dries out' the fuel so to speak. Don't know why anyone would use it in the lower 48, doesn't really get cold down here (currently 10ish degrees here in Eastern PA). Usually would use it once it got down below -30 or so.

Save your money. All it is is isopropanol alcohol, water sticks to alcohol which then carries it to the engine to be burned.
Well guess what, if you live in the US you already have alcohol in your gas, it's called ethanol. It already carries the water from your gas tank to the engine to be burned.
So unless your car was parked for over a year with less than a full tank of gas in it and water had condensed into the tank...you do not need to add anything to your gasoline. Winter or otherwise.

Now if you had a diesel it'd be a different story, then you'd need a anti gel additive for temps below zero.

Thanks for the input. I will not be using heet. I have been topping of my tank to curb any moisture. However i do not use gas with ethonal. There are a few stations in my area selling pure gasoline for the premium grade.

In that case you still have nothing to worry about, condensation won't collect enough water to say so for at least a year.
If you add a can of SeaFoam or Marvel Mystery Oil once a year you'll be more than fine with any water that were to collect.

Have you checked your MPG of E-10 vs E-free?
I bet you will not see any difference in MPG between the two but you are probably overpaying for the E-free.
So premium E-10 vs premium E-free, what MPG do you get with the two? What price per gallon for each?

I have not checked on the mpg difference, if any. The price is about .25 to .30 cents higher for pure gasoline. I thought it was better for the engine long term to run pure gasoline, but I could be wrong.

In a small engine yes, the carburetor does not like ethanol, it forms deposits inside the jets and float seat and will cause run problems.
But as for your modern fuel injected car...nope. You're wasting money unless your MPG increase is enough to justify the added cost.
