I am replacingthe motor in my '89 4runner and before I get everything plumbed back up I'd like to replace my sticky heater control valve. I have the metal one with a plunger inside and it is very stiff. I've read that the plastic control valve from a newer model pickup/4runner (89-95) will work but I want to confirm before I buy something. I really don't want to spend $100 bucks on a valve if I don't have to.

Compared to Land cruisers these pickups/4runners sure are a pain to gather information on.

Yes, and no. It's not a direct replacement since it won't bolt up directly. But, it will work with minimal modification.

Ok. That’s what I was thinking. Looked like mount bracket is different. As long as the lever pulls the same way I’m ok.

Thanks!

I picked one up from the salvage yard that would work, as long as the lever works the right way you will be G2G. New wasn't in the cards for us $$$.. I don't remember what year or model it was.
