IMO the driver is to blame always, you have to be willing to question a spotter.
Plus they were driving straight into a bush, and once you feel it start to go you need to turn into it and give it some gas. But without hearing the spotter I think his job was done and the driver was not looking ahead and did not have a line picked out.

You could tell right off the bat this was going to end badly. The driver barley paid attention to her spotter. An inexperienced driver was the cause.

I agree it was inexperience that started all of this (know when to say HELLLLL NOO!).

The first thing I noticed about the start of the descent was the spotter flapping his hands and arms. WTF is that?
I would stop right there, get Dave to put down his beer can  , replace that guy with him, and help me out! :D

For starters, I would not do something like this with group that I would not be comfortable (experience wise) with/or trust.

And I just want to let you guys know - I'm not spotting anybody!!

Exactly. But it comes with knowledge and experience with knowing that - and thats where a good spotter comes in. And a person like me who has not been out in awhile might not have that fast reaction - so I'm counting on the guys here that knows what they are doing.

Damn Dude! Don't scare me like that with a thread title like that! Hits WAY TOO CLOSE to home my friend!!!

You can debate it till the cows come home... and hindsight is always 20/20.

Yep, that hit the internet about a while back and caused some speculation as to what went wrong, how'd the spotter do, and what the drive did wrong. But everyone was happy to see the person made it out alive.

Damn i need to slow down my brain when i type. My fingers can't keep up :hillbilly:

True but 20/20 hindsight now could install knowledge & prevent the next accident. Plus what else are we going to do on this board, we can only drool over the next guys new toys soo much. :D

Glad she was ok...

Glad shes ok, but she looked sketched from the start. That spotter didn't do her any favors either.
Man, that could have ended horribly.
