Hey guys,
I've had my 100 for about 2 months now and I think its time to get rid of that crappy headunit...the tapedeck is killin' me.
My speakers have all been replaced with Memphis Audio 6 1/2s.
I'm looking to upgrade my headunit but am not sure what to get. In the future I would like to get a 10inch sub. But its mostly not being able to listen to my ipod thats making me want something better.
I have done some searching and noticed that most of you guys get the double din radios, but I think I will stick with the single and try and fit my cb in the open slot.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what radio to get? I'm looking at spending $200 or less.

Thanks for any help.

Personally I would go with a pioneer 2 DIN touchscreen unit. They look cleaner and are more user friendly and capable than a typical 1 DIN unit. you will end up with gaps and a definite aftermarket look. it will not look clean or factory. I have a cobra 75WX so I do not have the need for "mounting" a CB in the dash. If you still decide to go with the 1 DIN unit I would suggest a pioneer unit. Look on amazon for good prices and reviews for both 1 and 2 DIN units.

arent they much more expensive?

Yes and no. I got a refurbished Pioneer AVH-3200BT from amazon for $275 shipped. I believe they retail for $350. They also sell used ones for less. There are even more basic models that sell for less. If you want to go with a quality 1 DIN setup you will probably spend $150-$200. I personally like the 2 DIN system due to the fact that they provide many more extra tid bits for a little extra money. I also like them because they look much more natural and professional in a vehicle than another with all of these random flashy lights.

Do some research for yourself. I do not want to tell you how to spend your hard earned so look at some video reviews on you tube. They will show you all of the features of each system and then you can decide what you really want.

Hope this will help you make up your mind.

if you have an iphone, pioneer is coming out with a new unit (appradio) that looks to me like the best integration yet. my kenwood DNX series does not link BT with my phone every time, so i will probably pull it out in favor of the appradio at some point if the reviews are good. other than the BT linking issue, i do like my kenwood.

single dins can be useful if you want to put a CB or Ham in the lower part.

are you guys replacing head units in trucks that have no nav or are you replacing even in nav'd trucks?

do the single dins just not line up right with the dash?
anyone have any pictures?

I don't know about 100s but on the 80 series forum there are a few. You would probably find some if you did a search.

Most 1 DINs would require some sort of plastic molding around the edges to look nice. You would then have to do the same with the CB. You would probably be able to find it at a car stereo place.

they sell the plastic pieces at a local best buy, i just heard from 2000uzj that singledin dont line up very well
