Headlights don't work (1 Viewer)

Any common problems. 71 FJ40.

First place to look.


All other lights work.

I had a similar problem w/ my 69, it was a just a bad fuse connection.

I second the high beam switch. My '71 would "Fade to Black" when switched. Actually direct to black! New switch and all was well...Brian

check your fuses, and most imporatntly that you have good grounds

If it's a fuse and you replace and it keeps blowing, chances are it's grounding out somewhere.

dumb question: where is the high beam switch? I pull to the first detent and the running lights come on. second detent kicks on the low beams. What switch kicks on the highbeams? I tried twisting the knob but that doesn't do anything either. I know its something pretty simple but i figured I'd just ask and make my life easier.

On the floor...until 08/72....then on the turn signal lever after that....

thanks! I have a 01/72 and that switch kills my headlights. I have an idea now.

I 3rd the highbeam switch. I had the exact problem with my 2/72.
