How many of you use or have your headlight washers hooked up and running? What button/lever/??? runs the washer fluid pump for that tank? (I have an '84 fj60) The hoses have been disconnected from the back of the sprayer unit. That looks pretty easy to reconnect. Does the headlight washer pump run when you spray the windshield with washer fluid???

Next Question. I have a button on the dash below the ash tray, inline with the rear window wiper button and rear heater button. It doesn't show up in the owners manual, so I don't khow if it is a dealer option or an aftermarket item. It is a square button w/ a clear round lense in the middle. An orange bulb behind the lense, and what looks like the symbol for fog lights. My cruiser has no fog lights, aux lights or any evidence that there were any.... I'm stumped. Help me Obi-wan. Your my only hope..... :D

The headlight washers should work when the headlights are turned on and you press the button for your windshield washer - you get clean headligts and windshield at the same time.

As for your mystery switch it's for the rear window defog. The switch should illiminate when you toggle the switch.

ming, its not a toggle. It is a push button that is right of the rear window defog toggle. It looks like it might be in one of two(?) factory knockout spots right of the rear defog toggle. So I need to have the headlights on for the pump to work???

Thanks

If you had a picture im pretty sure someone here could tell you exactly what it is. Factory or not. just need some pics

power antenna ?

exactly

Any ideas on how to clean up crusty headlight fluid sprayers so something actually comes out? Looks like some nasty stuff packed in there tight.

A product called CLR you can get it in the cleaning section at your local supermarket. I had some of my nozzles pluged and it removed the calcium/lime/rust build up.

if anyone has a front headlight washer motor - PM me. i'm still on the look out for one.

What's wrong with yours? Since they don't get used much, they shouldn't really fail. Have you hooked it directly to the battery - going around the stock wiring - to see if it works?

I need a headlight washer bottle if anyone has one.

My rear window de-frost button is a push button, not a toggle. I bet that's what yours is as well

PO's can be helpful

Talked to the PO and he said that the OO (original owner) had dealer installed fog lights. They used a stock Toyota fog lamp button from another vehicle and wired it all up for him. the fj60 has since had a small run in w/ an escort. (cruiser won, escort munched) So no more fog lights, but the wiring is still there for me to use.

Also, the headlight washer setup is missing a part that connects the plastic 90 deg. elbow to the nozzle...??? Guess I need to get out my Chilton's book and do some reading. :grinpimp:

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions. You all rock!

I need the whole setup, nozzles, motor tanks wiring....

the beautiful valence panel I got for free has the washer nozzle holes in it and it would be better I think to intall washers than it would be to weld over the holes.

bumping my own post

Anyone know where the plug is located on the elec. block/circut for the removable engine light? I have the light and just need to know where to plug it in.....

In the glove compartment, left side.

here's the parts sheet from SOR for the headlight washers.

p/n 96 (the elbows) are actually check valves that keep the reservior from draining. FWIW

Note: the elbows ( item # 96 in the SOR pic above) are more than 'just an elbow'.Its a little valve assembly...won't let water thru until some pressure applied.

As you can imagine, two failure modes:
1. gum/rust/crud shut...no flow
2. gum/rust/crud open...constant dribble until tank empty...

As for the 'motor' not working...
good chance 'crud' is in pump; dried out windhield wash solution...
motor & pump does 'unplug' from bottom of tank...
and you can get to item #83 to clean...

Someone parting out a late 84 and 'newer' (hehehe) FJ60/62 may have parts...

( cheez.... 'newer' old rig...hahaha)

thanks

Thanks again ming and thanks sisukid.
