I have had my 05 LX470 for about 10 months. This morning I started up my truck and the drivers side headlight is out. I am not familar with HID upgrades and wanted to get a few thoughts on if I should upgrade the system, go LED, just replace the bulb or ballast (if that is possible). I did google the ?ballast? and the reviews are okay... but I am not opposed to upgrading.

Amazon product ASIN B004YI76WY
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't recognize that ballast but I'm also no expert.

Have you swapped the bulbs to determine if they're the issue? If not, do that first as bulbs are easy. Always replace both at the same time.

If you want to upgrade your system, changing ballasts and other plug-in components probably won't give you a huge upgrade if they're still pushing light through the OEM projectors. Our projectors were designed for halogen lights, not HID. For the best output, you'd want to swap them.

that looks like a cheap $30 ebay HID kit ballast. Most of those aren't producing anywhere near the stated 35w.

Replace with a quality AMP aftermarket ballast.

or better yet, OEM denso units with AMP connectors
AMP: Denso Slim

what did you end up doing on your headlights?

Ordered from the retrofit source. Ballasts and new bulbs.

AMP: Morimoto XB35 2.0
BL-XB35AMP
H1: Morimoto XB HID
B-H1

4k Bulbs. Plug and play and turned out nicely.
