Check out part #40 (base) of the headlight assembly.

I have two OEM headlight assemblies and a new OEM bib for my 2/79 FJ40.

No way those assemblies fit onto the bib unless I lose part #40. Easy fix I thought. Remove the base, insert new plastic grommets in to the bib voila! NO...the adjusting screws (#45) for the headlamps that came with the assemblies are to big (diameter) to pass thru the new grommets I put onto the OEM bid...what am I missing here? Does the base mount behind the bib??

Any input welcome!

Cheers,

Dave

...than just mine alone in a garage with fresh paint fumes!!

anyone help me figure this out?

Cruise on!

You must have mismatched parts.

That's what I'm starting to believe...thanks for the reply!

Maybe a photo of what you have would give someone an idea of what it should fit.

are you putting later model buckets into an early model bib?

Update...

Sent pics to James at Cruiserparets.net, evidently I have the wrong headlamp assemblies. He is sending out new ones right away. Will post when installed!

Do you have any pictures of your headlight assembly going back together. I have a 1/79 front bib and I think it was missing the buckets, but I am not sure. I need pictures of a 79 bib with the headlights installed to see if I am missing anything.

How did yours go back together?

Thanks,
Chris

My 1979 doesn't have #40 either.

The sealed beams fit into depressions in my bib panel directly - well - without that thing anyway.
