is a 2F head a 2F head, or were there suttle changes made as they went?

There's early 2F heads and late 2F heads. Not so subtle change between the two.

i don't know any detailed info, but I have an 85. When I had to rebuild the motor, I found an 83, and the heads were different. The 83 had significantly fewer exhaust manifold bolts in the head. So getting a good tight seal on the exhaust gasket was alittle more of a chore. ( running headers) there were fewer points to evenly tighten the flange to the head. Used red silicone just to be sure.
