My 78 FJ40 has a hardtop installed but no head liner. I will be in Southern Calf. next month so I am thinking about buying a head liner from Spector Off- Road and haul it home save the shipping. Does the hardtop have to be removed to install the head liner?

No. It would definitely make it easier, but we had an upholstery shop do ours with the top on. It was a SOR headliner if I recall.
