I know this has been discussed before on many sites I have looked hard for answers. I am rebuilding a 2F and the after market head gasket does not look like the origional.
The issues are round holes instead of kidney shaped ones on the 4 front right water jackets. And most of the forward coolant holes on the LHS are blocked as well. This seems to be the case with most after market gaskets. Will it create a problem with overheating heat will not be able to rise at these locations it will have to go to the back the return over the head to the front. Can air locks occur were there are no holes at all? I imagine that the gasket will breakdown at the locations were there is ports above and below this wont be good.
Any thoughts?

Call Cdan, and get OEM gaskets, and remove the doubt.

Good luck!

Did you compare it to the previous gasket? I've used some felpros in the past and have been happy with them. IIRC the OEM gasket blocks a couple...

Deliberate design.
Gives more even cooling as the water is forced to the back of the block before coming forward to cool the head.

If all the ports are open, the front runs cool and the rear gets too hot.

Just make sure you install it the right way around!
