I'm wondering if there is a headlight on reminder chime on the early HDJ81's. I've left mine on a couple of times and I'd like to re-enable the reminder chime if it exists. Anyone know?

Mine's just like yours, nothing. But I would like to have it.

Cheers

Looking through the FSM electrical diagrams, there is a lights on warning relay located under the dash somewhere with a 4 pin connector (page BE-31). I'm going to look for this when I get a chance. I'm hoping it's just a matter of re-plugging in the harness.

Sure would be nice to have the headlight level control system that was available in some countries. My headlights are aimed too high when pulling a trailer.

I got nuttin' either, but I would like to know if there's a way to make it available.

I'm in the same boat, no chime. The wife has killed the batts 3 times now. Would be great if all that was needed was a squak box to be pluged into exsisting wiring.

I had the same problem, left the lights on one night, and then installed a "Left Headlights on" beeper.

Purchased the beeper at a parts place (can't remember where) and wired it via two relays. Put the beeper on the drivers side kick panel.

When the Ignition is off (took cue wire from auxillary fuse panel ignition on DS near battery), and the running lights (or whatever lights that you want to cue from) are on.......the beeper sounds.

Was not that hard to install, and has saved me a few times.

If for whatever reason you want to leave the lights on and the ignition off........this particular beeper seems to sound for about 15 seconds, and then shuts off?

Please post a pic of that section of the diagram - I would like to try hunt that down too

Thanks

Ever figure out the relay?

I read on australian forum that the HDJ's have the plug, but not the auto light module. They just plug in and it works. Might want to look under the driver kick panel. Goodluck.

My headlights turn off when I take the key out and open the door on my 96. Is this not a common feature?

JDM's built after 8/92 should all have this feature.
