Do you recommend the 100 series pads without the anti squeal plates or the regular oem 80 series pads. I have an hdj81 about to do a brake upgrade.

Yes use the 100 series without the shims they work great

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure. I wouldn't want to hear that annoying squealing noise.

You know what also works? 80 brake pads. Every time, with all the hardware.

Yep. My 93 has standard brakes, standard pads (same as hdj81) and stops great. No complaints. Running 33" 305 ATs and it stops great.

Do some PM, drain, flush, and bleed the whole brake system. Check LSPV is bled properly and functioning.

I’ve got a set of OEM 100 series pads I’ll sell you REAL cheap. Only been in about 500 miles. Biggest mistake I’ve made with this rig to date. They are so thick nothing can fit in there and they rattle like no tomorrow. Just waiting on a new set of 80 pads to show up and I’ll be sending these things down the road kicking rocks.

Which rotors are you using? For a 97 /lx450?

It’s on my 94. I don’t know if those are the same as 95+.

what year is your hdj81?the 100 pads wont fit the 91 models. i think rotors were upsized after 1991.those would accomodate 100 series pads
