First off, I'm not sure how I landed on the HPS, but my goal was a pad that holds up well when towing, resists fading, and has low dust. I initially wanted EBC Yellow Stuff pads, and while they are a great pad, they are known for being a fairly dirty pad. I guess some online reviews and lower cost led me to the HPS pad.
So far:
I STILL have the annoying squeak, squeak, squeak that I just knew new rotors and pads would solve...I'm putting a new hardware kit on soon as some of my pad retainers that clip inside the pistons were broken.
I have less than 500 miles on the HPS pads, and I LOVE them. Cold stopping is as good or slightly better than OEM. Brake fade (OEM's were bad about fading when towing, which made me really have to stomp on the pedal) is completely gone. In fact when these pads warm up, they have amazing stopping power. MUCH much better than OEM, hands down.

Rotor choice won't make that big of a difference, but I went with Centric rotors.

I bedded them in and noticed a difference right away. Now that I have hauled a full rick of firewood on my trailer, and a 4wheeler, I have had the chance to really get on the brakes and I am more than pleased; and they're not fully bedded in yet. I can easily stop a full trailer w/ the same little effort of an unloaded LC with stock pads. When the HPS pads warm up when I stomp the brakes, they grab harder and harder.
Cost: I can't remember for sure...but they were around $70 for fronts only. I have cheap Oreily ceramics on the rear since they don't work nearly as hard.

Ideally I would find a pad that has the amazing stopping power cold, but seems like all the pads I have found that fit my needs work best when hot. Plus any OEM equivalent cold stopping power is good enough for me.

I wish there was a way for you all to drive my LC like you stole it and see how bad ass these pads are!

The Hawk compunds are generally good stuff. Their race pads are popular, but the dust is nasty. Sticks liek glue and can be corrosive. HPS is much less aggresive than their track product, so you may not see the dust problem. Sounds like you are lovin them so go for it!
