Have you modified your Front shock towers with Ford units?

Hey guys, I originally had planned to modify my front shock towers using some F350 shock towers when I did my motor swap. The swap took longer than anticipated and I was trying to get the cruiser back on the road before summers end. Well, if you have been following the 3-link daily driver build starting pg 7 or the dedicated om606 motor swap thread you'd know the motor was garbage and I have to put a new one in. So, along with ordering my new engine and gaskets, I ordered some ford f350 shock towers. I was wondering if anyone has modified their towers? If so, post up pictures and details if you would please. When I pull the motor to replace it, I will modify my shock towers and do a small write up.

To use the shocks I'm currently running without the need for the crappy adapters and bushings.

IMO those are only a good solution if youre not able to weld on the correct sort of bracket

It is the correct sort of bracket, just no a Toyota bracket. If there was a stock option for eye to eye shock towers for the cruiser I would have gladly went that route. Instead I plan to chop the ford tower and chop the cruiser tower and splice the two together. Essentially adding the correct type of end to the tower without ghetto fabbing upper tabs.

I have welded tabs onto other toyotas to accommodate eye/eye shocks. Never on an 80. But IMO, all you really need is two little pieces of steel and maybe a gusset or two to make a double-shear eye mount, not a whole shock tower.

Yeah I don't know if you need to go through all that effort. Where is @shocktower ? I would assume his name means he has opinions here.

Great, you called upon him, now this thread is doomed to be hijacked and cummins swap pictures are bound to follow. You should know by now @nukegoat that I have a tendency to go a little beyond what is necessary when it comes to modifications. By the way, I've been reading the Marshmallow build and checking out those wheeling pics. Job well done sir. If I remember correctly you did an above average job on the front fender trim, plan to detail that at all?

I did a very below-average job on the front fender trim. I am not proud of my body work, especially next to yours

His body work is great for yard art since his great Merc doesn't run, @nukegoat that's is funny calling me out on my name;)

You have a diesel engine in your landcruiser that runs, right?

I modified shock towers front and rear to run longer shocks.
I put a 2.5" holesaw through the top of the shock tower, welded on a 2.5" long piece of 2.5" tube and welded the disc I cut out of the tower onto the top.
I used pin-pin shocks, my main aim was to run 5" shocks on a 2" lifted rig with stock bump stops along with a couple of other mods to free up some flex.

You could do similar, but set it up to run double shear eye mount shock

@shocktower, do you have something useful to add to the content of this thread or just more ignorant boasting? I know it's hard for you to be anything but ignorant when you can't post irrelevant pictures of your swap on other threads, but do try and be useful. Your remark would have been insulting if you understood that lawn art doesn't move. My cruiser runs and drives, it just doesn't drive well like I had expected it to. That should be remedied shortly as I have another motor on the way. Heck, I could have almost bought a trashed out Cummins motor for what I dumped into these 2. I could have been another dissatisfied disgruntled customer of Dustin's waiting on parts, but decided to be original and try and bring something new to the community. Anyway, if you have anything useful to add I invite you to do so.

@nukegoat There worse things than having a 1fz-fe, like a 3FE
