I had seen these large rubber "erasers" to clean sanding belts. I never got one because of the hassle and cost and also because I didn't even know whether they would work OK or not. I do have a couple of pencil erasers but they are small and I need those so I didn't try them, figuring out they would be worn down to nubs in no time. So, basically, didn't do anything and had to use clogged up belts.

Until a couple of days ago...

I had saved several rubber corks for wine bottles and belatedly made the connection. Yay! Wouldn't you know? They work!

So, there you go, you can quote MUD and tell your better half you need to get more wine cuz you need your belts cleaned!

That reminds me that I periodically have to get rid of half-spent tubes of caulk that have gone solid on me. I wonder if those might work too. Last one I opened up, I was surprised to see how strong the material was. Not quite a hockey puck but not flimsy either. Will try next time I have one.
