I found replacement hatch struts for my 86(built in Nov 85) HJ60

I bought them from Fergusons Auto Parts in Halifax for $28 each

and they are listed as a direct replacement for the OEM part.

I don't know the opening PSI as Monroe doesn't advertise it

(maybe some intrepid Googler can find it)

but they open very firmly and the hatch

doesn't contact the rain gutter.

Here is the Monroe number: 901612 I saw them on some US

websites for $20 US

I have pics showing the old and new if you want.

They also come with new hardware which is metric and fit right on (the one I could get out: I,ll get the rest with the vise grips.)

A Pic

They are an exact match in piston length and overall length

Lets try this again

Thanks HFXcruiser, I just happen to be in the market for some. Are they alot stiffer because I have a ladder on my hatch and need some extra pressure?

Great information, I will be at my parts house first thing Monday AM. Short memory, tired of whacking my head coming around that corner.

I don't know the PSI as the guy at the parts store said Monroe doesn't list it but the hatch goes up quickly and stays up well.

Maybe someone can find out from Monroe.

I just know they work for me and the dent in my head has healed.

You are looking for Monroe Maxlift 901612

Monroe replied to my enquiry

Thank you for contacting Tenneco Automotive. The PSI is 115 lbs.
