Yes I added a second cooler inline with the factory. I used a B&M aftermarket brand. Why: b/c Rodney told me I would need one with the v8 and valve body. They are very durable, effiecient and cheap. They are constructed simliar to the OEM one. They are also a fine Canadain made product. Look for my "V8 swap begins" thread in the 80s section for pics.

You sure you need it? Some come with two from the factory, like my 1996 LX450.

Some, like every one I've ever seen in the US. One in the radiator and one in front of the condenser.
We recently heard that some foreign jobs came sans the remote cooler, did you get one of those?

Which B&M cooler did you use? Any specific mounting problems?
    Thanks, Mack

I found Kirk's pics. (awesome thread!)

Is it better to place a tranny cooler behind the rad instead of in front of the condensor?

I bought this one from ITP Performance Transmissions for my 4Runner and it has been great:

It's the Tru-Cool LPD 4454 and I'll probably get one for my 80, too. Why get one? Desert temps in the summer and pulling hills in those temps are brutal. It may not be necessary, but it definitely won't hurt anything. Why the Tru-Cool instead of the Hayden? Because it bypasses the smallest cooling passages when the tranny is cool to minimize pressure drop.
