I got to this in the end of my last post but I bought an electric fan from a Taurus the other day and went to put it in my 1974 FJ40 with an F2 only to find out it doesn't clear. Now I can move the rad over and forward about an inch but I'm not sure that will even do it. Has anybody else done this, have any pictures or advice for me on other fans? I have a beater 1994 Escort I don't use so I pulled the fan from that but it's about the same size.

Thanks a lot!

why do you want to add an electric fan? the stock set up work great or it should

I've put them in many of my cars, better gas milage and more power would be my main reason and this being the forth setup I will have done I've noticed the same results on all of them. Maybe I'm stupid but it sure sounds like a good idea. Being in AZ I'd like the added control of better cooling when it's needed instead of when it isn't. It's hard to sit a car idle here on a hot day for long so I figure going slow on trails in the summer would make good use of an electric fan.

This is not a taurus fan nor do I know for sure something like this would fit with the 2f Inline 6.

But what I did here was build a fan shroud that bolts to the stock radiator mounting holes and the fan is bolted to the shroud.

If you study the pics for a bit, you may see that the fan is not centered.

But instead tucks up and to the drivers side (radiator inlet side), this is where the water is the hottest and where the fan will pay off with the most heat transfer.

Note, this cleared the V-8 fine, but I centered the Radiator to the grill, stock it is lined up with the motor (straight six), NOT the grill.

Many aftermarket fans are quite thin, unsure on the thickness of your taurus fan, but it might not be out of your scope to build a fan shroud that will suit your needs, there is fan out there in the aftermarket that looks like a factory ford type fan, but the shroud is not oem.Link to somebody re-selling that fan mentioned http://www.yogisinc.com/Detail.cfm/-/Product_CD=CCI-40/Brand=98/product.htm

Thanks a lot, that may be what I end up doing. I was also thinking about putting a newer aluminum radiator on it as it's almost 2 inches thinner then the stock is but I'll have to eye it all up tomorrow and see what looks like the best option. I'd hoped somebody else has dealt with this.

Thanks!
