Yes it will. I even verified it by calling classic cruisers in Salida Colorado. (big FJ bone-yard) I bought my hardtop there. He said it will definitely fit.
 
The piece of the top between the side panels is different for hatch and amby doors. I have one for the amby doors and am looking for the hatchback style. The later side panels have holes for amby hinges and no holes for the shocks. A body shop can easily modify them to work.
 
if your gonna use the amby doors the 74 body is different. there's a recess where the bottom of the doors meet the body on 75 and later-this is where the bottom of the door fits against the body. i did what you are talking about and it bowed my doors out.
