When I reinstalled my hard top, I had the same issues. I used a wood dowel, the same size as the forward post on the hard top and determined that my fit was off by a <16th of an inch. Just enough to cause binding. I tweaked the hard top post slightly until it slipped in (it was slightly tilted forward). Also, I had to drop the hardtop straight down, not tilted back as shown in the picture. I realize that you set the hardtop down to snap the picture.

When you remove the hardtop, can you see on the hardtop post where it might be binding by scratches or wear marks?

I figured it out. The bracket on the fiberglass hardtop that meets the windshield is the culprit. The windshie;d wiper bolts are hitting the bracket. I need to file those down a bit and it will fit properly. Thanks for all the advice, it is great appreciated.
