My cruiser just turned 500000kms today. I was not driving. My wife was, but she knows me well enough, and called just before it ticked over so we could celebrate together. I like my wife. That works out to be about 12.5 times around the earth at the equator. My cruiser has never had any engine work beyond new injectors, valve adjustments, fuel filters, oil and oil filter changes. In fact I would wager that the clutch is original. I recently talked to Peter S. He told me that his wifes 70 has over 600000kms. So here is the tech part to this post (its not really techy and I appologize for that). I would like to know what others have seen for high kms and what failures occured that have caused a cruiser to retire.
