Bastille Day should have been an example to the Iraqis during Sadaams regime. We could have avoided all the BS right now.

I was at the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day in 1999. Talk about a complete breakdown of fireworks safety. Bottle rockets zinging inches over your head and every other kid you pass tossing M-90s and Cherry Bombs at your feet. Scary chit. My girl and I ended up zig-zagging across the park while I repeated, "Duck and cover. Duck and cover." I disliked France.

Hate to break the news to you, but they did...you know all of those mass graves they always talk about on the news? That was them trying their own Bastille Day...happened a short while after Gulf War I. Results varried.

Swank:  Wishful thinking in my part - but what I meant was a successful one at that. The reason why it failed was because we left Sadaam with an intact military so he can still defend himself against a possible Iranian invasion (also Bush Sr bowed to the wishes of Arab leaders ). Took the tools and knocked his brothers down. We were trying to keep Iran in check with Sadamm in power. The plan would have turned out well but we underestimated Sadamms big mouth ego. Always the short kid trying to take on the neighborhood tough. It could have worked if Sadamm learned his lesson = no Gulf War II. :D
