I can't decide. I've read the FAQ on sliders and done a search. Hanna's sliders have the cat protection.

Slee's Tube Sliders seem to be lower profile from the bottom of the rocker to the ground.

Are there other differences between the two?

Weight?

Can they both be used as steps?

Can modify the mudflaps to fit the sliders?

I know that I can't go wrong with either, but please point out some differences between these two sliders.

Thanks

For me, no cat protection, no deal. Cats are pricey and they always seem to be the first thing that gets dragged over rocks at my altitude (50 mm lift). FWIW. Dan.

you're in LA so if you happen to drive up to SLO for a trip or something, you could pick up from Hanna. That would save you quite a bit in shipping. It could be a determining factor as sliders are quite heavy and you should figure that shipping into the budget.

At the current gas prices, I don't know if driving up there with my 80 will save any money in shipping costs. Buying out of state saves tax...

You definately can't go wrong with either one.

Cat protection is not something I would let be a deal breaker. It can always be added later if your wheeling style makes it necessary. It really is a choice in looks so I would go with whichever one you like the appearance of better and its function serves your needs more.

I just got a set of Metaltech, and let me tell you these things are well built also. Those come with the cat protection. I can tell you this, it not going to be a one man install when I get around to installing them. I post up after I put them on.

And with the way cats are being stolen here in California, the Hanna Sliders cover the whole cat (good luck stealing them). By the way I like the "dirty Sanchez" avatar, you obviously know the definition of it on the urban dictionary?

And MetalTech's are chopped liver?

I can't speak for anyone else but I personally wasn't saying that.

I have a set of metatech's on my present 97.;)

However that was not the question put forth by the OP, he said he had read the FAQ on the topic and my take was he has narrowed his selection down to one of these two options.

Slee's are easier to get in and out of, the step sliders are real nice. I have Metaltechs and they are well used and hold up very well, but as my wife points out, they are not the most conductive to getting in or out of for a woman.

Who would steal 11 plus years old cats?
They would have to be cut or torched off.
You must be kidding:doh:

Nope, the core materials are worth it, people use a sawzall or torch and cut and run.....

cal is right.

its actually happening more frequently all across the nation.

that and gas siphoning...................

There's gold and platinum inside those cats and with the price of gold were it's at, thieves are making money.

I just happen to like the simple straight tube design on these sliders (note that I'm considering the Slee Tube and not the Slee Step).

I also know that most of the brand name sliders (Hanna, Slee, MetalTech, SROR, IPOR, etc.) are well built and perform well offroad, so I'm basing my decision on non-offroad factors like looks, step functionality, and maybe urban cat protection.

Price (shipping, tax) is always a factor, but I'm willing to pay a little more if it fits my needs better.

So, I'm narrowing my questions to:

1) Are both sliders functional as steps for the family to get in an out? Is one better as a step?
2) Is the Hanna cat protection good enough to make it very difficult for the cats to be chopped and stolen?
3) Are the Hannas significantly lower/thicker at the rocker? I know the slees have a 2" x 4" base running along the rocker. I might be looking for the slimmer profile to the ground. Maybe this is an insignificant issue.

Thanks

1. Both tube sliders will be the same step wise. Ken's upper tube is a little larger than Christo's
2. I think so.
3. Not sure but I think the square tube at the rocker is the same. Ken's 'might' be a little more substantial, but I'm not sure.

You can put skateboard type sandpaper tape on the top of the slider tubing to help prevent little feet from slipping off.

If you've narrowed your choice to Hanna and Slee (tube style), you can't go wrong with either. You'll have greater shipping costs from Christo and lesser shipping plus taxes from Ken. You can always drive up to SLO to get them from Ken. Figure on a good tank and a half minimum for the round trip from LA.

I picked Slee's tube sliders because I think they're lighter than the Hannas and I think they're slimmer at the rocker also. I haven't seen Hanna's in person, but after looking at pictures and reading the specs, I came to that conclusion. Those were two factors I was mainly concerned with as you are. The Slees don't really have cat protection for my 94 but for the way I wheel, it's not a big deal so far. I think there is a little protection for the cats on 95-97 sliders.

Almost forgot to mention that I use them to step into the truck every time. The tube sits just below the door sill and sits a couple inches away from it. I'm 6'2" so it's easy for me to step onto them. For my 4'11" girlfriend, the step is a little high, but she manages... :)
