Hi Guys, bit of a introduction of myself. My name is Hamish and I’m from New Zealand, and I work as a agricultural diesel mechanic at a New Holland dealership. I have recently bought myself a 1977 fj40 in need of some work. It seems to have rust in the usual places and has had some dodgy repairs done in the past also. At some stage in its life it had a engine swap to a 3b and runs and drives ok. Plan is to strip all the paint repair the rust and repaint and get it back on the road. Things that need replacing along the way will be done also. Sorry if my blurbs are hard to follow, my written English is pretty rubbish. Here is a bunch of photos to start it off

Depends what you are after. If nut and bolt restoration then tear it down. If you like the worn look, I would leave as it is. Looks great. Get it running reliably.
