Lonely out there in "Commando" land?

Uh negative considering I'm not sitting at home talking to the naked fat man in his basement in Norway who goes by G1MFAT...

A tool is a tool. I don't need a permit to use a gun responsibly, I sure as s*** dont need the Feds to tell me who I can talk to over the radio when I talk responsibly.

This has to become your new signature.

I agree by the way.

Then I assume Beno doesn't have a drivers license either?

You have some surprisingly conservative perspectives for someone I thought was a liberal.

"19th Century Pragmatism" - sounds like a graduate-level philosphy course.

OK Ash you can stop your belly ache'n I've passed my tech license test....

For those still looking for a CB, I received the following from Right Channel Radios. Sounds like a nice radio. I know we have a discount code for them, but I don't remember what it is, and I'm not sure if it would work on this deal.

Edit: I found it, worth 7.5%. PM me since they asked I don't broadcast it.

Finally bought a HT radio. Baofeng UV-5RE. Here is the link to the discussion on the main board that put me over the edge...

After reading it, the decision was a no brainer. Found the radio for like 42 bucks on Amazon, ordered it up and it will be here next week!
All of the accessories for this radio are dirt cheap and readily available, here is a link to ebay...

If you wanted to get a radio and get all the capability of ham without breaking the bank, this is your radio!

Update coming as soon as I get it in my hands.

When Mike, David, and I were in Baja the motorcycle guys were using them. They had all good things to say, except the manual was limited.

I got a Baofeng UV-5R a few months ago for $53 + shipping from Hamcity. I finally got a chance to use it at Cruise Moab and I'm very pleased so far.

The first use was on the 3-day 2-night Kokopelli Trail. A couple's CB had just died, so I lent them the radio so they would have (one-way) communications. They were not licensed, so did not transmit.

I also used it quite a bit on E-Hill, as I was tail gunner, so I was in and out of the truck spotting people.

One of the Baja motorcycle guys Pappy is talking about had a high capacity battery and charged it from Jon's solar panel through a DC/AC converter. The stock battery charged fairly quickly. The high capacity battery (which was HUGE) took forever to charge. I was impressed with the build quality of both the stock radio and the accessory HD battery.

The 3 looks like it might be a better fit for a loaner since there are no buttons for a newbie to press and get the radio off frequency or in some weird mode. Did you compare the two?

I did Mike, wanted the bigger one to start with. At the price of the 3 I'll probably buy one of those too!

Planning on getting one once I recover from the engine rebuild and then someday getting something like Sl33p3's setup...
