electrical day

Don't know what any one had in mind for the electrical day but i would love to do a headlight upgrade to the 62. Could leave it up to Mr. Ed as to what kind, he is the expert after all. Think i need some relays ???

as for the March Electrical Tech day we may arrange it as such:

"I thought it might be a good idea to have some "classroom" time to talk about basic electrical topics, like how things work, general troubleshooting steps, reading a schematic, using a volt meter, soldering & crimping, etc., along with discussing some of the specific projects and repairs that we want to do when we get to the garage and how best to accomplish them. We can do a variety of tabletop sessions with real car parts to simulate and troubleshoot what we will encounter in the actual vehicle. I have enough stuff to set up several "labs" to demonstrate real word circuits. Depending upon the repair/project, we may be able to emulate the entire circuit during the tabletop session. It is a whole lot easier to see, understand and diagnose the circuit when it is spread out on a table rather than in the car. This will also give me an idea of the specific projects that folks want to do and what I need to do to prepare/bring with me - parts, test equipment, etc.

This morning I stopped by the Burke Centre Library, 7100 @ Rt 123, and reserved a class/meeting room for March 5th, from 10 to 5. This was the only day they had available in Feb or March. We can do the classroom session on the 5th, and then meet at Convenience later in the month. Not sure if you want to do Convenience the next weekend or later in the month. Two weekends in a row might be too much "play" time for some. So far, there is nothing on the home calendar for any Saturday in March. Pick a day that is good for you and Convenience and let me know.

What'cha think?
Ed"

It would be a two part session with the first being classroom time then the second would be a hands on approach.

So everyone knows the way it stands is that we're shooting for the classroom on the 5th and I'm going to try for the 19th for the hands on. This keeps at the middle of the month for our tech days.

some more ideas for tech days

desmog on a 2f (I'd like to do this sometime to my rig)

think Steve mentioned Clutch replacement

adding lockers

maybe some trailer tech since a few us are looking at the military type.

to be continued...

How about a recovery tech day to include jacking the LC properly, winching, proper use of recover tools and methods? Proper use of Hi Lifts, bottle jacks, winches, snatch blocks, anchor points etc.... you get the picture.

I like this idea too.

Perhaps we could get the ARB rep to come out and give us a demo? Assuming that the rep is not Iron Pig, it would would be nice to give the guys at IPOR a break. We could meet out in the woods somewhere and have the demo with some real-world applications.

This looks like a good topic for tonight at the meeting

HERE is the link to the May 21st Tech Day, topic: Recovery

body panels

Hey Sam, i think welding body panels or sections of panels sounds like a great tech day. I am in need , Tracy would be interested and the green machine makes three. Just name the place and time and i will be there. :bounce:

Vince indicated he is available for a Tech Day either of the last two weekends in July, but if we are going to do a body work session we might need to see if Ryan is available.

I was hoping to do a body work Tech Day using the parts from the raffle or donor rigs, but we need to pull the parts first... :meh:

...unless someone already has parts ready for cut-out, welding, straightening, smoothing, etc. I do have some patches on the 40 that need attention in order to prep for final painting, but no welding.
