Hi guys I’m quite new here. I have a complete h55f gearbox but looking to switch the transfer case over to the 4speed gearbox. Has some one done such a conversion before do the fit directly or not..

Not sure what you are after here? Your truck is currently a 4 speed transmission and you want to put the 5 speed transmission in with your current transfer case? No problem with most transfer cases.

The 4 speed transfer case has a big bolt going through the front of the case to clamp to the transmission where the other one doesn't.

what year is the 4 speed transfer? very early ones won't work, they don't have the oiler provision.
other issue would be the linkage is different

Okay tried it and found main shaft size and splines differ believe the 4 speed I have is a old one that came with the 2 h engine if there was a gear kit like 3 speed to the 4 speed believe then this was possible

Yeah, that tranny is for a one piece transfer case not a split transfer case (78 or earlier). Completely different animal.

still not sure why you don’t want to use the five speed?

the 4 speed is a bit shorter than the 4 speed. My propshaft is to short appox 300mm from flange to flange so with a gearbox change would gain about 80mm

Buy 85-later prop shafts or have your shafts altered at a driveline shop. But that 4 speed tranny is a no-go.
Can you give us some background on your truck?
