I have a 1975 FJ40 that I'm looking to swap trannies to an H55f, 5 speed.
Will my T/Case bolt right up? Should I get a different T/Case? What's this I hear about a split case?
I will be trailing and crawling.

H55's require a "split" tcase. Begun in '81 with the introduction of the FJ60.

Really stronger, better tcase than the one-piece cases used in almost all 40's.

This is not a bolt-up deal. Do a search, and check the tech articles.

I believe anything after 8/80 had a split case. I have a post 8/80 fj40, titled as an 81, and I have the split case. Just FYI.

I've been told it's way stronger as well. Never had any problems with it either. Prolly worth it to get a split case if you can track one down...
