I need an H42 4 speed transmission.. the Northwest would be nice, so i can come and pick it up.. I am in Portland Oregon..

More important to know length and output shaft splines. I have one out of a 76 FJ40 (16 splines), but it's a long way from Oregon.
I think there are 4 versions:
Early with 10 spline output (Possibly 74 only)
Mid with 16 spline output (75-79)
Late early 19 spline output (80-4/85)
Late with 19 spline output and extension housing (4/85-87)
Anyway, you gotta know what you need.
What transfer case are you mating it up to?

here is a picture..
ok, here is a description..
i took a doubler from a 203 transfer case and adapted it to my h42..
i needed a transition gear, since the output h42 shaft was too long to make work..
cut 6 inches off the h42 output, welded up a "spud" gear with a 203 input shaft and a doubler first inline gear..
made a housing, 6 inches or so for the spud transition..
ended up with four shift sticks..
and the pic i have will not load..
I can post a few pics on my youtube channel if that will help..
from the pics I can not see a housing cast number, so the basic spline count from the pic is ...

581 miles says the Google. You should be able to find one closer and I'm not interested in shipping (too big and heavy). If you're passing through, we could make a deal.

16 spline output (75-79), H42, is what I need..

I don't know the exact year, it is an H42 4 speed that had a 1 piece transfer case behind it.
do you need the shifter or top plate?
