Need some help... I have a 1978 fj 40, 4 speed transmission im swapping the ingine to a Cummins R 2.8 so the adapter kit requires a Input shaft with 10 spline... witch im good. But i bought a 5 speed transmission H55 out of a BJ60 1983. My question would be can i swap the input shaft on my H42 gas to the h55 diesel, so my adapter kit would work with the 10 spline input shaft. (actual spline on h55 is 21 i need 10)

Any feed back would be appreciated.

thanks

Derek

you could use the correct H41 input shaft as long as it was from the same year range
the H42 input will not work.
or get the correct H55 input shaft

cruiserbrothers?
Toyota?

Input out of a 8/80-10/85 FJ or HJ with a H41or H55F 8/80-10/85 will work. H55F didn't start until 10/82. OEM shows NLA in places I look. Search 33311-60090 on eBay AU and one from 4X4 World shows up. I believe is aftermarket and possibly comes from Japan.

The H41 input shaft from pre 8/80 and post 10/85 H41 & H55F have different part numbers.

You will also need to use the bearing retainer on the front of your H42. The B series engines use a different bearing retaining.
