Just cracked open my H151 in order to replace the seals. 195k miles with no history but I did drive it for a while. Shifted great. It's definitely a bit funky inside with some buildup. Is it best to just replace the seals, put it back together, run fresh fluid to flush down the road and then drain? Or is there a good way to clean it apart like this without complete disassembly? Or is this a protective layer of grime that I need to preserve?
I wiped a finger through the grime in each photo for contrast.
