Costs I think is the main reason. Higher trim level, more expensive "luxury" 80 series models came with the full time cases, costs more for toyota, will cost more for us.
Meantime the 70 series was and still is a work truck, so the cheaper simplier part time box fits it well.

That seems logical.. definitely got some thinking to do, can’t wait to get it running properly and see what it drives like I’m both modes I’ll probably make my decision then.

Thanks again for your input

Sorry to bring up an old thread but would it be possible to swap out my part-time transfer case from my r151 onto a h151 that has a full time transfer case?

In case you have the combo from a hzj105, yes you can.
You will need to swap out some parts, as the gearbox input into the transfer case is different between the R151 and the H151, so it will require a different input gear in the transfer, but otherwise the hzj105 series (which are factory part time), have hf1a transfers, which will bolt up to your h151f. Also mind that you will need different length prop shafts and the linkage for the transfer shifter can be an issue too.

Good point forgot about the 105 variation. Finding one of those in Costa Rica where the person is at will be almost impossible.
