Picked up a set of 12 bolt H1 beadlocks yesterday to run on my 60. I've read a ton of threads on pirate regarding them but couldn't find any info here aside from me_tu05, who has a set of 'em on his 60 ( can't search with less than 3 characters, H1 is obviously less ) I'll post up some threads I've found with good info on re-centering, but have any personal experience with them?

I'll have some experience with them including recentering them in a week or two as mine are being shipped out this week.

I run a set of 12 bolts on my 40.

Strong, but heavy as hell..

Sweet. Where are you getting your pressed centers? Stazworks?

That's what I've read. How heavy are the ones on your 40 with tires, 150lbs each?

Yep, 39.5" Irocks on Plate H1's ~ 125 or so.

The same tire on a 15" steel rim. Just under 80 lbs IIRC..

Filled with water they are a bit over 300 :hillbilly:

What backspacing are y'all running? Was it difficult to true the center in the wheel for welding?

Something just dawned on me. Without spacers, one couldn't run a flat center on these wheels because the caliper would run into the wheel. Is that correct?

There are several different venders selling centers in flat and press varieties in several different lug patterns so yes you can get centers in 6 x 5.5 pattern.

How would having that heavy of a rim+tire combo affect offroad capability? Break axles easier, probably. Lower center of gravity, not enough to notice. Lose beads, never:cool:

Why not just go with Stazworks? You can get a 17" rim and have a lot more tire choices. The H1 is a 16.5" rim and has comparatively limited choices.

I love those wheels. I have had many sets of these and have a set I am going to run on my 60. I just haven't decided if I want to run 1 tons or leave the cruiser axles. I have recentered my own wheels in the past I bought the centers for 100.00 and the wheels fir 200.00 so with a little bit of time I got a awesome set of beadlocks for 300.00 make sure your o rings are good or they will leak. O rings are 10-15 bucks each.

Bought the H1 rims. If I wanted to know about stazworks rims I would have started a thread about them, not H1's.

Gotcha, thanks man! How hard was it was it to recenter?

I hope you undertamd how I did it.
I had a 8 lug spacer (2.5 dually adapter with 2 - 1/4 spacers) with a I bolted to a flat steel table (1/2 thick table) I just bolted the center to the adapter laid the wheel over it tacked it place. I then welded it up in a cross cross pattern with 1 inch beads then did the other side all the way around. So I got just slightly over 3 inch backspace. When you cut out the centers of your qhels if you have plasma cutter or acces to one it makes alot cleaner cut unless your really good with a torch. Or you can do like I did with 1 set we did for a friend we took the wheels to machine shop they charged us 30.00 and machined the centers out it was super clean cut.

Sounds confusing but actually not too difficult.

I see what you mean. You used the flat table and the spacers to get the center to the desired backspace then welded 1" beads in a cross pattern until it was burned in. I think I'm going to need pressed centers to clear the calipers on my truck and I haven't found a pressed center that I like yet. I'm going to pick up the wheels on friday so we'll see what ends up getting done in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks:cheers:

That's it and my wheels came out straight as can be. Drove around on them for about 8 months then sold the first set.

Now I'm on my third set. :)
