I met a Lexus NA employee today while on a bike ride and he let me drive a pre production 550 in Lux trim that he was in. I took it on about a 5 mile trip thru the downtown area (no highways) and came away just feeling kinda “whelmed”… maybe chalk it up to being a prototype build but it didn’t make me want to run out and drop $80k+ on one. The turbo lag is real and a bit off putting, NVH a bit much for a Lexus, and the whole driving experience just felt really synthetic to me.

Anywhere on the East Coast selling the GX at or below MSRP with no dealer add-ons? I'm getting the "we add a package, but you're getting something for your money, whereas other dealers just to market mark up blah blah blah". Literally adding on $10k of bull**** no one wants, one dealer adding $2k for plastic protectors on front of hood, bumper, and mirrors... gtfoh.

Any good dealers you can point me to?

Edit: Is there a thread or spreadsheet tracking dealers? I feel like we as the consumers should be sharing as much information as possible to force dealers to act in our best interests. A few people simply not buying doesn't send a loud enough message compared to thousands of people directing their business to dealers not padding prices.
I got a very good deal from Orange Co.Lexus in Middletown,NY. They couldn't get me the Silver I was looking for in NJ (was going for $72.5) like they said they would, so they offered me a Eminant White (which was a choice) but was $74k with options. I balked a little and the GM said he would match the $72.5k and I couldn't resist at that point. Pick it up tomorrow....no added BS. I've been talking to different dealers since March of 24'....just couldn't find the right truck. I believe I watched every YT video online...and bet I know the vehicle better than the salesperson...😅

Not it but exact match! (Steps not rock rails)

Congrats!!! Glad to hear there are good dealers over on this side of the country too. I’m holding off for a bit, but I did find a FE in NC selling for 72k which was 6k below MSRP+add ons. Was a hair away from pulling the trigger but decided it was too much of a splurge for now.

Now go get that clean, white thing dirty!

Received a call from my local Lexus dealer yesterday and I have my first opportunity to buy a new GX after signing up on their waitlist back in March of this year. It’s an OT+ that is pretty close to my requested spec (only thing missing is the black roof). Person ahead of me passed on it. Last of the 2024’s, apparently it’s at the port and should be at the dealer by end of month. What to do? What to do? 🤔

This is the thing about Toyota I hate. Can't order a vehicle the way you want. Have to simply hope an allocation comes in that matches your desired spec. Even harder with Lexus as they have so many options and color combos. I passed on over a dozen trucks at my local Dealer before something showed up to my liking.

Depends do you want the additional one inch lift and aux switches the 25s will come with?

The part about that extra inch is misleading. I am not sure if that means the Overtrail is getting an increase in lift of 1” or if they were referring to the Overtrail already having that amount of lift over the Premium and Lux trims? Aux switches do nothing for me, I’d rather see a sunglass holder or rear zone climate added.

Yep, really frustrating that you can’t do customer specific orders especially when many of their competitors offer them. They did offer it on the LC500 beginning this year but that’s the only model I’m aware of.

Either way I intend to at least poke around and test drive this one coming in. Interested to see if my opinion changes any from the prototype I got to drive over the summer.

Drove a GX 550 base this weekend. Man those turbos make it zippy. Must… resist….

Hey folks...

I thought it wouldn't hurt to start a thread that provides any updates on when the SUVs will start hitting the lots and also an idea of how long certain models/trims are taking.

I'll start:
Model: GX550
Trim: Overtail+
Color: Earth
Order/Deposit placed: 6/2023

Status: Expected delivery in early to mid 2024

Hello sir. My name is Luis I’m working in a Lexus dealership, the number 1 Lexus volume in the world, . And your comment got my attention, I can help you to get the GX550 OT+ faster than anyone, if you’ll like we can share information and give you more details.

I'm curious if you see any Overtrail with moonroof delete out there.
