The headlights on my wife's 06 GX 470 have gotten dim. Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket bulbs? Any hints on how to replace? It made it much easier to replace the turn signals when I found out to go from the bottom.

I got the brightest that fit at auto zone and they are BRIGHT. They are pretty easy to get to, just twist the bulb holder and they pop out.

I went with a 5000k hid kit off eBay. 29.99. Very easy to install. You do have to remove battery for drivers side. So much better. I even switched out the fog lights with a yellow 3000k hid kit.

I've been using a DDM Tuning HID kit for over a year and its been great too.

I installed a DDM 35w kit into the OEM fogs (reused in my custom front bumper) and it is night and day. Install took ten minutes per side. My dull, semi-useless factory fogs now outperform the headlights. I intend to put the same 35w kit in the headlights soon. FWIW, the color temp I went with was 4500k.

First pic is fogs only, second is fogs and headlights together. You can't even tell the headlights are on the fogs are so bright.

Yeah DDM tuning certainly makes a cheap and effective kit,but they do come from china AND the 4500k kit is more like a 6000k kit. It's alright by me, the color temperature isnt the absolute best for sunlight like vision at night, but the brightness is excellent.

Are you using those fogs AS fogs? Or essentially just reinforced lows?

I'm pretty happy with the 4300k xenon depot hid, although I think I need to adjust the aim up a little - it is nice and bright close up but doesn't reach out as far as I hoped.

I'm assuming HIR is the way to go for high beams because of the HID delayed brightness.

The factory fogs were retained in the front bumper, and pretty much worthless. I never used them because the only way i could tell they were on was if I was outside the car looking into the headlights. With the 35w HIDs they almost outperform the crappy factory Prado halogen headlights. Tonight I did an experiment and I could see almost as well with the upgraded factory fogs as I could with the low beams. Drove part way home with just fogs and could see fine.

The fogs that came with my Iron Man bumper are nice and bright. I have them turned all the way out to make them more useful to me offroad. Stock fogs completely sucked.

Do you think the Quality would be any better going that direction? Only reason I ask is because I can get the H3 and H11's from the other company for the same price as just the ones you suggested. I am ok paying more if you think the out put would be better?

6000 LM and I have had those in my truck almost 2 years trouble free. SUPER bright. Love them.

Thanks for the link Dan. Used the gxor code, the bulbs are on sale as Dan mentioned. Price shipped was $56.

They plug and play.
